Wheaton Glass Commemorative Flasks

Curatorial Story & Cultural Heritage

This is a pair of Wheaton glass commemorative historical flasks. Wheaton Industries of Millville, New Jersey, became famous during the mid-20th century for producing a vast array of commemorative glass bottles and historical flasks. Capitalizing on the growing interest in Americana and the approaching American Bicentennial, the company released numerous series honoring presidents, historical figures, and national symbols. These molded glass bottles were crafted in various colored glass types, often mimicking the appearance of authentic antique apothecary and whiskey flasks from the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, Wheaton commemorative flasks are actively collected by enthusiasts who appreciate their nostalgic appeal and connection to mid-century American manufacturing history.
